Labor Day Weekend in Knoxville

Aaron, Joseph and I spent the weekend in Knoxville with the McRae family. Sharon planned a big 65th birthday bash for John and their friends in Knoxville. Shane & Chelsea (NYC), Kelley & Matt (NYC/NYC via Champagne, IL) and Ryan & Catalina (NYC/Boston) all came down for the festivities, and Aaron and I had a wonderful time getting to know the folks we hadn't met and spending time w/ the McRae crew.

Joseph spent the majority of his free time entertaining the party. Everyone was great with him, which made the weekend even more fun for Aaron and me. It's always fun when people like your kid. His favorite activity, by far, was playing in the fountain in downtown Knoxville at Market Square. Seriously, I'd build one of these in our back yard in a heartbeat if it were at all possible.

The fountain is in an area that's surrounded by stores and restaurants, so it's a fun place to spend an afternoon...Or an entire day. Joseph's high-pitched screams are actually words: "wa-TAH! wa-TAH!" Or "Water! Water!" Aaron and I decided that Joseph speaks very well in Baby-lonian and in French, but his English is still slow going. He'll get there, though. Luckily for us, one of the weekend visitors is a refined actor who is also trilingual, and much to our surprise, the other 2 languages that he employs are Baby-lonian and French, as shown in the next video. Joseph was beside himself with joy to finally meet an adult who could communicate with him.
